FAQ:
Night one: Competition performances with live judges & one featured headliner performance.
Day 2: a morning or workshops & lectures from judges & headliners & guests at a local studio arranged by our producer.
Night 2: Headliners & judges performances as well as awards!
Day 3: additional workshops & lectures at a local studio arranged by our producer!
All cast, crew & audience members will be over the age of 18 & will need to provide proof of ID to enter the vicinity. Due to the nature of the art no minors are allowed in the venues for the duration of the festival, even with parent/guardian consent.
Workshop rates are set by the instructor & studio venue, each workshop varies on cost, time & supplies need.
Festival is subject to change, especially for covid19 safety needs.
Applications Go FULLY Live TBA 2023, for the Fall 2024 competition! ALL applications close TBA 2023.
Offer Letters/Acceptances go out TBA of 2024, With Cast finalization and press announcements released TBA 2024.
ALL Performers will be compensated the areas going rate, $125, for their performance as well as receive tips from the audience.
This is NOT a PAY to PLAY FOR FREE festival. But an encouraging, inclusive space that understands that artists are WORKING even if competing for titles and accolades, no matter their experience or history level. Performers will also have photography and filmography opportunities of their acts with our in house team, if they so choose.
General Applications will cost $10 per act. Performers, duets & troupes may submit up to three acts for considerations. All funds from act submissions fund the ethical pay of the selection committee & costs for the festival itself, including ethical pay of performers not covered by sponsors, Submission fees are non refundable.
There will be a select dates for early bird applications where under-served marginalized performers from Historically Excluded/Under Represented communities will be able to have all application fees waved . There will also be early bird discount times at various dates as well prior to general application times. As a brand that believes heavily in "Representation Matters" all marginalized performers will be considered in front of our committee for our selection process first, and our selection committee will feature BIPOC, Plus Size and other marginalized groups at the table.
Any act of hate or hate speech will not be tolerated by cast, crew, committee member or audience. We have a 0 tolerance of intolerance policy. We are committed to maintaining the festival as a safe space & will take all investigations and discussions seriously to preserve that, ethically.
The festival is privately owned & run by Danger Dames Productions/Lady Mekaella DeMure as a way to give back to the burlesque/nerdlesque community with a means to encourage artistic growth and the joy of self challenging your inner artists with accessible knowledge from international reaches via guest stars, judges & legends with the workshops and experiences of working/competing and witnessing performances from all involved.
